MTSS Spotlight
Second Step, our social-emotional learning curriculum is a crucial piece of our Tier 1 instruction in RCSD.  It is an evidence-based curriculum that helps transform schools into supportive, successful learning environments uniquely equipped to help children thrive.  It has several core planning pieces and all lessons are set up similarly with 5 key components. Check out this video to see a sample lesson* (this is K-5 specific, middle school will be coming at a later time).  *Please do not share with anyone outside of RCSD.

A message and handouts from Martha Merchant
Hi everyone, Thank you all for being such a great, welcoming group! I know that people often want handouts and so here they are. I've attached a pdf of the slides, a Self Care Assessment worksheet (I encourage educators to read over and choose something to focus on each month), and a handout offering little ideas to help with self-care during the day. For those of you who were at the longer workshop - I just realized I was over by 15 minutes at the end! I don't know why I thought we were ending at 3:45 and I apologize. Take good care, Martha

Originality Report (aka Plagiarism Checker) in Google Classroom
Have you ever wanted to check if your student's writing has uncited content and unintentional plagiarism? You can run an originality report in Google Classroom. Originality reports compare work in Google Docs against hundreds of billions of webpages and tens of millions of books, link to detected sources, and flag uncited text.  Below is a video showing you how to use the report.
