Critical Classified Roster Review Needed for August Payroll
Your classified employee rosters are up to date with anticipated payroll changes for the new school year. Please check your roster on your Google drive titled “CL (School Name) 21-22” and review your current classified staffing list by the end of the day today. If you notice anything that needs to be updated or changed, please contact Lori Orr immediately at lorr@rcsdk8.org.

Quarantine Attendance Clarification
There is a difference between a student quarantine from exposure at school and exposure at home. The attendance coding slides have also been updated:

Exposure at School:
  • Students are placed on Modified Quarantine (meaning they may still attend school but should not be attending extracurricular events).
  • Students may CHOOSE to stay home, which then allows them to participate in Independent Study and a contract may be offered.
  • If they do not want to come to school and do not want Independent Study, then they are coded “W” with a comment that they are out due to COVID exposure at school."
Exposure at Home:
  • Students are placed on a Mandatory Quarantine.
  • Students MUST stay home so their absence is excused (per Admin Reg 48205 #2.); therefore not eligible for Short Term Independent Study, coded "W" and leave a comment out due to at-home COVID exposure.
  • Using the code "W" will still account for student absences to be excused, but will not count against them for excessive absences/truancy purposes.

Positive Prevention
Here you will find the email sent out this week.

Action Item: Initial Positive Prevention Letter
Principals, please copy and paste this Positive Prevention letter and send it home to families as soon as possible. Please make sure it is sent out to all 7th-grade students by August 27. This will allow enough time for parents to receive the information and also for the two-week notice letter, from your teachers, to be sent out.

School Site Secretary Subs
In response to your growing need for clerical support, we have temporarily changed the testing requirement for current employees who want to help with clerical subbing. This means that your current classified staff could sub for your School Secretary absences and get paid the clerical rate.

Your classified employees can not vacate their regular assigned job to sub. However, they can sub around their regular hours, as long as they receive the appropriate breaks (per CSEA contract). This temporary change is intended for immediate needs when a regular clerical sub is not available through Substitute Services. You are welcome to discuss the opportunity with available staff.

Please notify Lori Orr (lorr@rcsdk8.org) if you have any current employee recommendations. Lori Orr will follow up with information to the employee and then share with our Substitute Services Coordinator.

Safety Information
Reminders from Previous Years
  • Require doors to be locked at all times.
  • Require staff to wear safety vests while on duty.
  • All ingress and egress points should be staffed with school personnel. (Staff should be monitoring who enters/leaves campus.)
Drills
Please make sure to review the drill procedures with your staff and get drills scheduled for the school year. As a reminder, here are the drill requirements:
  • Fire (Evacuation) - Monthly (Elementary), 4 times/year (Middle)
  • Lockdown - Once a Trimester
  • Earthquake (Shelter in Place) - Twice a year
Each time you complete a drill, please make sure to fill out the Safety Drills Google form. This form will be updated yearly. Please use this new link for the 21-22 school year.

911 Calls
If a 911 call is placed at your school site, text alerts are sent to the site and district admin. Rachael Peck will be connecting with elementary sites and Jamey will connect with middle schools to follow up on the alert. IF a 911 call is placed on accident, please immediately call 911 to let them know it was an accident.
