August 4, 2021 RCSD Leadership Blog

We hope you all had a great day yesterday with your staff!

A couple of things came up that we wanted to make sure we shared with everyone.

Face Covering Exemption Scenarios

- If you have a face covering exemption meeting with a parent and after talking with them, they want to talk to someone at the district office, let them know they can contact a Director of Educational Services.  Then email/contact your coach to let them know about the phone call and meeting information.  Middle School - email Amy.

- If you have a parent that you have met with and they are actively working on getting a letter from their doctor stating their child doesn’t need to wear a face covering, the student can be in the room the first two days without a mask (48 hours). Be sure to begin the form for tracking purposes.

- When filling out the Exemption Determination Form, if the student qualifies, you will be choosing temporary with an end date on July 1, 2022 in case it is a special ed student who will be in ESY.  This will allow it to be evaluated every year depending on guidelines.

Note: Here is a simple flowchart to follow.  It doesn’t contain all the details.  Please make sure to review the following documents that are on the reopening slides for details:

Immunizations

Noncompliant students will have a two day grace period prior to being excluded from school. Please have all immunizations entered into Powerschool by noon on Friday, August 6th. Our nurses will be running reports and sending them to school sites. Any student that is noncompliant will be excluded from school on Monday, August 9th.  Sites will need to communicate with those families on Friday afternoon. If you have questions please contact your site nurse.

Waiting for RVA

If a student refuses to wear a mask and they are waiting until August 16th to be enrolled in RVA, then they are marked W for Principal Discretion for their absence.

RVA Clerical Contact

Kristen Desimone (kdesimone@rcsdsk8.org) is the clerical support for RVA.  If your site has parents asking questions about RVA please reach out to Kristen.

Classroom Airplay Workaround

If you have teachers reporting issues trying to airplay from their laptop to their television, please ask them to change their Wi-Fi network from “RCSD” to “STEMP”, and submit a support ticket to notify the Information System Technician.

RCSD Student Wi-fi Hotspot Loaner Program

We wanted to provide a couple of quick updates as you deploy Chromebooks, and/or hotspots, to students to support remote learning in our Middle Schools, Roseville Virtual Academy (RVA), or Independent Study.

First and foremost, please return all hotspots and chargers to your site Information System Technician as soon as possible, the District is working with our carrier to swap the SIM cards in the hardware to activate coverage for this school year.

Any family requesting a hotspot must complete the Emergency Connectivity Fund - Parent Survey prior to a device being issued to them, selecting one or more of the following responses:

  • As of July 1, 2021, I will NOT have internet access at my residence.

  • As of July 1, 2021, I will NOT have sufficient internet access at my residence.

  • As of July 1, 2021, I will NOT have equipment to connect to the internet at my residence. This equipment could be a laptop, Chromebook, or a tablet.

AFTER the family has completed the Emergency Connectivity Fund Parent Survey (link above), please complete the below form when issuing a hotspot to a family.
