Professional Development Days
Reminder to Administrators that September 30 is a district professional development day and October 1 is a site professional development day. As mentioned in a previous leadership meeting, September 30 is dedicated to Data Team Meetings (DTM) at both elementary and middle schools. Teachers are to be given planning time on September 30 after they have met in a DTM structure. Remember that it would be helpful to give your teachers time to complete/revise their PLC Learning Targets-Essential Standards templates among other site/district initiatives.

Essential Standard Math Learning Targets Documents
Below you will find all the grade-level math essential standard learning targets documents. These were built to match the ELA format and can be utilized by your PLCs and in conjunction with DTMs. Teachers have access to these on the math tables of contents found on the learning site.

Safety Information
We are putting together a list with contact information for programs you may have on your school site to notify in the event of an emergency. Examples of programs include Adventure Club, ASES, Preschool, County Program, etc. The information for Adventure Club, ASES, and RCSD preschool has already been compiled. If you have another program, besides one of those three on your campus, please email Rachael the name of the program, contact person, phone number, and email.

Short Term Independent Study & Quarantine Changes
Legislation around independent study changed to only allow students 15-days cumulative per school year otherwise synchronous instruction would be required by the classroom teacher when a student is out. Due to this we are no longer using short-term independent study when a student is quarantined for illness or a positive/close contact for COVID-19. However, per Ed Code, staff is still required to provide students with work while they are out on quarantine if a parent/guardian requests it. Families may still utilize short-term independent study for vacation, bereavement, etc. up to the 15-day maximum for the school year.

In addition, short-term independent study request forms are now only available digitally on our website and parents requesting independent study must submit forms electronically. All paper forms will no longer be used.

Reminder: Staff Vaccine Verification, Weekly Testing, and Staff Notifications
All Staff Vaccine Verification will be managed through PowerSchool accessible from Start Page > Staff > Select Staff > Vaccine Verification. Please work with your site clerical to ensure the classified and certificated rosters for your site are current. All vaccine verifications previously submitted using the site-based Google sheets have been imported into PowerSchool.

Due to confidentiality, access to Staff Vaccine Verification is only available to Site Administrators. If you would like one additional confidential staff to have access to update this page for your site please submit a SchoolDude ticket.

Starting September 20, unvaccinated staff will be required to complete weekly testing. From PowerSchool, please run the sqlReports shared during Leadership to identify:
  • Vaccinated Staff List
  • Unvaccinated Staff List
  • Weekly COVID Tests Required by Site: this report can be used to identify unvaccinated staff that are required to complete weekly COVID tests. Unvaccinated staff will show on this list if they have not been tested within 6-days.
Surveillance tests initiated through RCSD will show immediately in PowerSchool, with results updated twice a week from our Testing Partner: Color.

Using Swift or Gmail, starting September 20, please notify any unvaccinated staff that appear in the Weekly COVID Tests Required by Site report that they must complete weekly testing. Please remember to BCC staff if you are using Gmail to send notifications.

COVID-19 Guidance: Assemblies, Rallies & Dances
Just a reminder that under current state guidance, RCSD will:
  • Not hold large indoor events such as dances, assemblies, and rallies.
  • Not have outdoor events where students are seated without masks, closer than 6 feet for more than 15 minutes.
  • Not have dances both indoors and outdoors.
  • Will allow large outdoor events, such as Fall Festivals, where people are moving and not sitting close to others for an extended period.
RCSD will revisit all large events, including assemblies, rallies, and dances, as updated guidance is provided by the state throughout the year.

Lost or Stolen Chromebooks
If a family is reporting the Chromebook assigned to their student has been lost or stolen, the family must either provide a copy of a police report prior to being issued a new Chromebook identifying the Chromebook as stolen, or reimburse the District for the cost of the Chromebook. The approximate replacement cost for a Chromebook is $285 as outlined in the Annual Family Notice.

A police report is mandatory for the District to seek reimbursement through School Device Coverage (SDC) for both Middle School and Roseville Virtual Academy Chromebook. The following link can be used to submit a police report online: Roseville Police Department - Online Reporting.

End-of-Life Technology
With the deployment of nearly 8,000 chromebooks to refresh our existing student devices, the Information Systems Technician team will be coordinating with site clerical and administration in the upcoming weeks to E-waste any end-of-life student used technology (i.e. Chromebooks, Computers, etc.).

End-of-life technology is typically older than seven years, and considered “obsolete” by the manufacturer. Obsolete indicates the device is no longer able to receive software and/or hardware services from the manufacturer. End-of-life technologies will no longer be supported.
