A reminder that progress reports go home Friday, January 24th. There are more details in the Educator Digest if needed.
Middle Schools it is your responsibility to send out a message by 1/24/25, here is a sample message you can use.

April 21st PD Day- Elementary Update
K-5 teachers will receive training on the new Social Studies curriculum during the morning of the April 21st PD Day. We will know exactly which curriculum is recommended to the Board in February when the pilot is complete and the information is shared with the Board. All K-5 general education and SDC teachers will receive training from 8-11am. The afternoon, 12-3pm, will be site specific PD.

Safety
The On-Site Reunification Planning document is due by the end of February. This can be a living document where updates are made as needed, but will be in a location where coaches have access in case needed. Please share the document with me if you haven’t already. Reach out with any questions.
Purchasing safety items can be done with funds from PTC, donations, or general. We do not use LCFF for items.
Raptor Information
Some sites have expressed there are times when some staff hear the alert for drills and other times do not. This is not an RCSD issue as other districts report some of the same problems. Top troubleshooting ideas:
In past years Raptor has shared that there isn’t an audio alert for drills. This is not true anymore. There is a fog horn sound for both emergencies and drills, as well as a voice that states if it is a drill or an emergency.

6-8 Math: IXL Math Snapshot Diagnostic Reports for Administrators
The window for the IXL Snapshot Diagnostic is December 9th - January 24th. Here is a document with tutorials on how to run the most helpful reports for viewing diagnostic data.

K-5 Science: Update on Returning Discovery Ed Materials Kits to the Media Center
This information was shared with LMS before winter break and again this week.
January 31, 2025 - Last day to submit a Media Center Pick-up/Transfer form to request a pick up of any unwanted Discovery bins/materials still located at school sites.
Starting February 2025 - Media Center will no longer receive "Media Center Pick-up/Transfer" requests for Discovery bins and/or Discovery science materials located at school sites. All bins and contents belong to the school site.

Circle Forward - Building a Restorative School Community Book - Restorative Practices Supplemental Book
The appendix in Circle Forward (provided to staff in Restorative Practices) offers a guide to the Circles, helping educators implement the practice effectively across different grade levels. The book serves as a supplemental resource for staff using Circle practices with TK-8 students.
The updated edition includes a new module, Module 14, titled "Moving Toward Racial Equity: Starting with Adults." However, this module will not be used in our district, as the book was purchased specifically for Circle practices with TK-8 students.
A sticker will be placed on all current and future books in the system to indicate this. The Circles selected for your classes should be age-appropriate and tailored to the specific needs of your classroom. The appendix at the back of the book serves as a guide for determining age-appropriateness, as some modules are intended for high school students and adults only.

- Ensure app is not open before initiation
- Ensure app is up to date (preferably have it set to automatic updates)
- If a smart watch is involved, check watch settings to make sure the alert isn’t transferring to their watch. When this happens, the alert is quieter and a different sound.
