Alarm Passcodes
When placing the alarm system on test, any required password should be the same as your alarm passcode. If you’ve forgotten your passcode, please reach out to Lucy. If a different verbal is required, please let Lucy know so the necessary corrections can be made.
School site drills- Please only place the system on test for the duration of the drill. Once the drill is complete, call Sonitrol to end the test and return the system to normal monitoring for safety.

Elementary Conference Week and Interpreters
  • Requests for Spanish and Russian conferences will be sent out at the end of the month from Andi Fultz and your blocks of time will be sent to you in early October.
  • Time blocks will be for 30 minutes to allow “travel” from one conference to the next
  • Please confirm with families that they will need an interpreter before requesting one or counting them in your numbers. Sometimes families want to bring someone they know. Please don’t assume they need one because their child is an English learner.
  • Important: Do not schedule other conferences until your blocks of time are given to you for Spanish and Russian.
  • Requesting other languages will follow the Request for Interpreter process.
  • Teachers need to submit their hard copy form of the request to their site clerical. Clerical need to submit all requests on the Google form
  • As we get closer, specific dates will be given for timelines in order to make sure there is sufficient time to book interpreters.

Cumulative Folder Routing
Last year we discussed developing a standard routing slip for all sites. Due to the specifics that schools like to add to their document, we decided on not having a standard form however we did agree on minimum requirements. These requirements are important in order to ensure items are not being missed. For example, 504 plans aren’t being communicated to the correct people who are able to document them in all the right places. Please ensure your routing slip has all of the minimum requirements. You may choose to use the linked document however please do not make changes to it on the RCSD template.

Updated Behavior Support Plan Template
Please make a copy of the Behavior Support Plan Template for your site and save it in a location where your SSP Team and 504 Team can access it to create BSPs if needed. If you’d like to have your SSP Team do the practice BSP writing activity we did during Leadership, here are the practice scenarios we used.

Guidelines for Trampolines & Vibration Plates
The following information was shared with special education staff today in the ESSentials (ESS department newsletter). For site administrators, please be aware that, based on our district insurance policies, trampolines and vibration plates cannot be used in classrooms where they are out and available for students to access. These tools may be used in a motor room under the guidance and supervision of an OT or COTA. If your staff currently have either of these items in their classrooms, please have the teacher remove the items. If teachers have questions about alternative ways to provide movement breaks or similar sensory input for their students, please have them connect with your site's occupational therapist.
