  • Minute to Win It Slides
Thanks again for participating in the games on Tuesday. It was great to hear laughter and see smiles in person. Below is the slide deck we used, with blank areas for team names in case you want to use with your staff. It is view only so you would need to make a copy.

  • i-Ready Form- Elementary
Thank you for talking through the change in iReady for next year. Once again the District will be paying for diagnostic for grades 2-8, instruction in one area of (either Reading or Math) in 2-5, and Math instruction (either i-Ready or iXL depending on pilot information) in 6-8.

We wanted to remind everyone that this is still an increase in resources as compared to three years ago when the District paid for only the Diagnostic for 2-8. A site can use site funds (including LCFF) to provide the diagnostic for K-1 or instruction for both Reading and Math for grade levels, if data backs that plan.

K and 1 will still use the Foundational Skills assessments and we are developing common math assessments.

We are making this decision based on the data, and looking how we can best utilize resources. A reminder to please fill out the form below by May 6th. We will be communicating these updates to teachers in the May 5th blog.

  • LCFF Spending
As you finish up the school year and start brainstorming for next year's goals and actions, we have developed a document (linked in title) to share ideas of items/acitivities that can be supported with LCFF money. As shared in leadership, the money is intended for increased and improved services for our identified subgroups. The money should be intentionally tied to your goals developed from your school data. If you have questions about your money, please reach out to your coach.

  • Elementary Science Update: Mystery Science
After much consideration and feedback, we will be purchasing the supplemental curriculum Mystery Science for the 22-23 school year. Mystery Science will not only help support our current Discovery Education (DE) implementation, but it will also allow teachers the flexibility to provide more opportunities for science learning.

Please note, that the Discovery Education hands-on kit materials need to be utilized with DE activities specifically. Future material replenishments will be based on activities used within the Discovery Education curriculum.

Since we will be purchasing Mystery Science for the 22-23 school year, no additional Discovery Education print (student workbooks or TEs) resources will be purchased. Keep in mind that both the TE and all student workbook pages are printable from the platform. Student workbooks can always be purchased out of site funds. They are about $25 per student workbook. Please reach out to me, Megan Spears, if you are interested in using site funds to make this purchase.

Mystery Science will be housed within your Discovery Education platform and more information will come at the beginning of the 2022 school year. Until then, you can use this link to use the full Mystery Science curriculum for the remainder of the school year.

Thank you for all you do and don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.

  • EL & ELD Information: RFEP Monitoring Forms
Regular monitoring of students who have been reclassified from English Learner (EL) status to Fluent English Proficient (RFEP) is one way to support the continued language growth in our students. Official documentation of this monitoring is a state requirement and must be completed, twice per year, for any students who have been reclassified within the last 4 years.

This year, all RFEP monitoring documentation will be completed in our Ellevation platform. Teachers with students who have been reclassified within the last 4 years will receive an email from Ellevation on 4/19/22 prompting the completion of the second documentation for the year. EL Site Leaders will be reviewing these monitoring forms and reaching out to principals to discuss the progress our RFEP students are making.

  • Raptor Updates
Some have asked about shared contract teachers and using Raptor to account for their students. When two teachers share a contract, only one teacher is assigned as the primary teacher in Power School and that is the only teacher who will have the roster linked to their name in Raptor. How does the non-primary teacher account for their kids then? They would follow the steps for “Accounting for Students on Another Teacher’s Roster” which could be used for shared contracts, subs on campus, etc. Please see training slides 27-28 for these steps.
