Referrals for Behavior Analysts

The protocol for referring a student to our behavior analysts is through the SSP Process for general education students and through the IEP team for students receiving special education.  After those teams have tried to problem-solve at the site level and find they need more ideas/support, the principal should reach out to their coach, and then the Program Specialist (for students with IEPs) or Meghan (for general education students).  Once Lori or Nicole receives a referral, they will contact school psych to ask about the following:

(1) Psych Observation (should happen before referral is made)
(2) Target behaviors
(3) Initial data collection for the target behaviors
(4) Antecedent strategies that have been tried
(5) Reinforcement strategies that have been tried
This protocol will be shared with the school psychologist at their next meeting on October 7th.

PD Option on October 31st- Martha Merchant

In anticipation of an incredible PD day on October 31, 2019, I (Meghan) am inviting you to consider a training option that will focus your team on strategies for children who currently face trauma and need our help.

The district teams will all begin the day at Destiny Church, with a keynote from Dr. Martha Merchant, PsyD. a skilled presenter who brings together clinical expertise and research-based, trauma-informed practices to groups working with children. She will be setting the tone for our day with an inspirational talk to EVERYONE in the district that really focuses on how we can reach children in a deeper way.

After the keynote, most staff will head to Eich and into multiple sessions with the MTSS lens. However, the lucky school teams that are interested in spending the remainder of the day working directly with Doc Martha, will continue their day of learning with Martha! Here is what to expect...

School site teams, consisting of multiple staff members who are willing to engage in the learning and sharing of knowledge back at individual sites will:

Learn ways to positively support staff’s knowledge and implementation of:
-Trauma-informed practices
-Ways to increase in instructional time
-Ways to decrease in disciplinary office referrals, student physical aggression, and suspension

So if you are looking to promote school success and resilience for trauma-impacted students by creating a safer, supportive, and engaging learning and teaching environment, this is an opportunity for growth for your staff and for your team as a whole.

Please let me know if you are interested in this option and are committed to sending a team in order to create a significant impact on your site. Seats are limited and we will honor your requests on a first come first serve basis. Please let me know by October 9.

Remember this will be a priority reservation for your team, and only available to your team if you reserve seats now!

This promises to be an impactful training, and life-changing for the students you serve and for your staff!
