Domains on the Report Card and in the Gradebook, Not Individual Standards

Laura sent out an email on August 15th letting teachers know that standards will not be part of the gradebook and report card.  This is not a change for Middle School but is a change for Elementary. This year standards will not be on the report card or gradebook. Teachers will not need to scroll through the standards.  We do realize that many teachers want to give parents more description than what the domains provide, but we also know that providing too much information like individual standards is not always helpful to communicate progress to parents.  This is just one example of something we will be discussing as part of the Assessment, Feedback, and Grading Committee.

RTA Dates
From RTA: We agreed that the dates when the RTA E-board meets without the council would be okay for the DO to schedule trainings that don't involve those members. The other date (council and combined meetings) would have no trainings or mandatory meetings scheduled and the other date is held open for all Site reps to attend.

SPSA: Technology purchases
It is time to start updating your SPSA Goals, Actions, Annual Program Evaluation and Budget. Many of you are considering purchasing technology out of your site’s budget. Remember that if you purchase technology out of your LCFF Supplemental budget you must be able to speak to how the technology that is being purchased directly relates to improved and increased services for subgroup students. This must be spelled out clearly in your “Actions” Section in your School Improvement Goals. For example, it is not enough to write “purchase Apple TV, Ipad and Large TV monitor for Kindergarten Teachers”. Instead you could write, “ Apple TV, Ipad and Large TV monitors will be purchased so that English Learners and low income students can more easily access and interact with the state standards”.
