Administrators: Interested in seeing Guided Language Acquisition and Design (GLAD) in action? You are invited to stop by during the week of 9/9-9/12 at Woodbridge to see GLAD demonstration lessons. The lessons will be from 8:50-12:00. You are more than welcome to visit during any part of the week. Let Amy know if you are interested in seeing what GLAD is all about.
CapCUE Mini-Grant
Do you have a creative/innovative use for technology in your classroom? Take a few minutes and fill out a mini-grant application to apply for this $500 grant. All CapCUE members are eligible for this award (becoming a member is free). Last year two RCSD Educators won including one of our admin!

Join us for a day of learning and writing with author Kelly Gallagher Kelly has written many books including 180 Days: Two Teachers and the Quest to Engage and Empower Adolescents (with Penny Kittle), Teaching Adolescent Writers and Write Like This.

MTSS Spotlight
Strong PBIS practices include developing relationships with children and helping each child connect with one (or more) caring adults on campus.
Here in RCSD, we are working to align our academic, behavioral, and social-emotional learning into a fully integrated system of support for the benefit of all students. One way to support our students' social-emotional wellness is to create safe and inclusive classrooms. This enhances the student/teacher relationship as well as the student/student relationships. September 13th is a site professional development day. One item to consider having your teachers work on is their essential standards plan for ELA for trimester 2 and 3. Remember we will be sharing site grade level plans at our leadership meeting on November 12th. Please reach out to Amy or Melissa for assistance. We are happy to help.

K-5th general education New Teacher Required ELA Training: Monday, Sept 16th
All new K-5th general educator teachers are required to attend the following training. We will cover a broad overview of our ELA curriculum and discuss best practices for implementation. Location and time below.
Location: District Office (1050 Main Street)
Time: 4:00-5:30

Our goal/focus this year: In K-5th we are focused on the implementation of our new Writing Curriculum this year. Remember this is a marathon, not a sprint; each day getting better than we were yesterday. Here are some resources to support this hard, but rewarding work!

Workshops will highlight the themes of Google Apps, Tablets in the Classroom, Project-Based Learning, Connected Classroom, Digital Literacy and Creation, STEM & NGSS and more! Click here to register.
Cost is only $80 and includes lunch!
Proceeds from the CapCUE Tech Fest support the CapCUE mini-grant program funding innovate uses of technology in our local schools for CapCUE members.

Fall CUE is coming to the Sacramento area!
Fall CUE is the northern annual CUE conference that boasts over 1200 attendees annually. Fall CUE is a two-day event that is packed full of CUE’s most dynamic presenters and educational leaders. Fall CUE features over 250 session choices, high profile keynote speakers, playgrounds, free and paid workshops and student lead sessions on the beautiful Cordova High School Campus.
