Elementary Math: Expression Student Additions for Teachers
Purchasing math student workbooks for teachers is a site expense. If you are interested in using site funds to purchase math Expressions Student Editions for teachers, please reach out to our HMH representative for further information.

SSP Reminders
  • SSP team members can be found on ESS Staffing list
  • Meetings are on Wednesdays after PLCs
  • The first SSP Facilitator meeting is scheduled for 9/19 at 2:30 via Zoom (you are welcome to attend)
  • Pre-work for the SSP Facilitator meeting was sent via email
  • Important information to cover in SSP meetings before student meetings begin:
    • Meeting expectations/review of agreements
    • Examine your high priority list from the last year-check in with Psych re: signed APs
    • Ensure that your SSP Facilitators and Psychologists/Psychologist Roles have access to your site's SSP folder.
  • Considerations:
    • Does your site need a review/refresher?
    • How can Julie best support your team?

Second Step Update
Site administrators NO LONGER need to add users through "user management." All rostering has been completed on the back end by Second Step through Clever. Teachers need to sign into Second Step through Clever, and once they are in Second Step, they should see the option to the right to "create a class." This is what they need to do to access their desired grade-level content.

School Site Council (SSC)
Please take time to review the updated SSC slides. These slides are for principals to help understand the requirements and your responsibilities. You can also use some of the information from the slides in your first meeting with your council to share their responsibilities with them. If you have any questions, please reach out.

Handle with Care
Please fill out this FORM by August 31, which lists those people on your site who should receive the Handle with Care email alert. This is most likely you, office staff, counselors, etc. If you are wondering who you had designated last year, feel free to reach out.

Safety Corner
Drills
Please remember to announce drills and emergencies using multiple methods. Initiate via Raptor as well as use the intercom and the correct language. Repeat the instructions multiple times over the intercom with the appropriate language.

Backpacks
There are about 20 backpacks left and up for grabs. Please let me know if you would like some, and I will deliver them to your site to keep on hand throughout the year.

Remote Support Rollout: Teamviewer
*This only applies to Staff with MacBooks.

Starting Monday, August 29, we will deploy Teamviewer to all District-issued MacBooks. The Teamviewer remote desktop software allows IT to remotely assist with technical issues. This will greatly increase the speed of resolution of your issues as well as reduce interruptions in your class.

As a part of this installation, each staff member will need to check a box that allows Teamviewer to access your screen. The setting is called Screen Recording, but it does not actively record your screen. For added security, our version of Teamviewer also hides the Teamviewer password to stop anyone outside our IT department from accessing your device. If you ever see the password, never give it to anyone outside RCSD IT.

Upon installation, you may see a dialog box that reads Review System Access or see an icon with a yellow triangle in the status menu in the top left of your screen. Please follow the instructions located in the Zendesk article: Allow Teamviewer on your MacBook.

School Site Staff Roster
To view a list of active staff in PowerSchool assigned to your site for Vaccine Verification or Staff Attestation, from the Start Page, click the drop-down menu to switch to Staff and click the magnifying glass icon.

Feedback from last year was that it would be great to be able to search the blog for items covered in Leadership. Here is the slide deck. We were also asked to include the Action Items for quick reference.

  • Educational Support Services - IEP Meetings, Reports, Role of Admin, Sped Behavior Handbook, Manifestation Determination
  • Ed Services - SSP Reminders, Data in Otus, PD Cycles, Handle with Care, School Site Council, Overnight Field Trips, PE Requirements, K/1 Foundational Skills and Math Assessments, Suicide Prevention
Administrator Action Items
  • Letter to PTC Presidents summarizing site improvement information to share with PTC-please put on site letterhead and give to PTC president
  • Complete Handle with Care Contacts Form by August 31
  • Schedule meeting with site SPED team to discuss calendaring IEPs and dates for sending draft reports and IEPs
  • Go through the Site Council Slides. Make sure you have your Site Council set for the year. Hold elections if needed and calendar all the meetings.
  • Make sure you are connecting with Itinerant Staff, making sure they feel part of the school staff
  • Let Rachael know if you need more drills added in Raptor.
Elementary Only:
  • Staff review Suicide Prevention Slides & go through Kognito simulation during a Staff Meeting in September
  • Due 9/1: Elementary principals, please indicate the grade level PD you will attend here.
  • Due 10/1: PE Schedules in this folder with additional 1st-3rd grade time
