Safety Corner

Reminders

The next steps from Leadership this week include the following:

  • Train your staff on the 5 actions in the Emergency Protocols and Non-Negotiables

  • Update any emergency documents 

  • Post Evacuation Protocols by classroom doors with Evacuation map (per Fire Marshall)

  • Provide each staff member with the Emergency Protocols for references 

  • Place Emergency Protocols in sub folders 

  • Schedule drills for the year (just schedule them on your calendar for now, working with Raptor on adding them to your dashboard)

  

Parents on Campus

As we discuss monitoring visitors on campus, the question came up about the first two days of school and allowing parents to walk their kids to their rooms.  If this is your culture on campus and something you want to continue, you can only allow this for the first two days.  Starting Monday, August 15, all visitors check in through the office.  


PD on 8/8, 8/9, 8/10 A reminder that all PD will start at 8 am.  Please see the Educator Blog for more details.  On August 8, TK, K, and 1st PD start at 1:00 at the assigned sites. Please let your teachers know. 

Attendance Codes for 22-23

Click HERE for the 22-23 attendance codes.  Codes are largely unchanged, with the exception of Independent Study may be offered for students that are required to quarantine due to testing positive for COVID-19.


CAASPP Student Scores 

Student score reports are available for students in PowerSchool. Parents received an email via Swift on August 1st. Students who were in 8th grade last year will be receiving their results in the mail in the following weeks.

Registration and Immunizations

  • Please ensure all immunizations have been entered into Powerschool school and letters of non-compliance have gone home.
  • Any students (except students who fall under McKinney Vento) who are not compliant by the first day of school will be excluded from August 11, 2022, until they are compliant.
  • ALL Immunizations need to be entered into Powerschool before students begin school and placed in a class…immunization compliance is state law.

Field Trips and PTC Events

There are no COVID-19 restrictions for PTC events or Field Trips.  Please remember that parents must be category II volunteers for field trips or to regularly volunteer on campus.

Education Support Services

IEP Meetings and Release Days

This document gives an overview of the procedures and number of release days allocated to each school site this year for IEP meetings.  ESS will be reviewing guidelines for scheduling IEP meetings with the new start/end times this school year and providing training for all ESS staff on facilitating efficient and collaborative IEP meetings.  ESS Admin will review the expectations for facilitating IEP meetings at an upcoming leadership meeting, so site administrators can provide support and feedback for their special education teams.  IEP teams may continue to offer parents the option to hold virtual IEP meetings this school year. If you have any questions, please contact your program specialist.

ESS Staffing Assignments - This spreadsheet has the ESS staffing assignments by school site for 2022-23.  We will continue to update as assignments for itinerant staff are updated.  Below is the program specialists' school site assignments for 2022-23:

  • Beverly Campbell: Cooley, Blue Oaks, Diamond Creek, and Kaseberg
  • Emily Coleman: Eich, Crestmont, Orchard Ranch, Sargeant, Stoneridge, and Woodbridge

Night Time Custodian Hours

The question came up regarding the start time for your night custodian.  The start times are not all the same across the sites.  If your custodian is interested in coming in earlier, here are the requirements:

  • 15-30 minutes overlap with the lead custodian 

  • Principal and Mark Ormes in agreement

Zendesk Now Live! (Replacing SchoolDude)

We are pleased to announce the launch of Zendesk, our new all-in-one customer service platform.

 

With Zendesk for Education...

  • Zendesk Support will enable staff, students, and parents to communicate with District support teams across multiple channels, including a fully integrated ticketing system, email, chat, and phone.

  • Make information accessible to staff, students, and parents whenever they need it: With Zendesk Guide, our existing knowledge base of how-to guides and articles to answer common questions are now searchable and accessible from one place.

Student Password Update

Technology Services will update student passwords on or before August 5, 2022. Students will log in to all learning applications and their Google account using either their Clever badge or the following credentials:

 

Username:  StudentID@rcsdkids.us (example: 267555@rcsdkids.us)

Password:   

  • Preschool through 2nd Grade: MMDD, please use the Month and Date of the student’s date of birth (example: 0824 if your student was born on August 24th).

  • 3rd through 8th = MM/DD/YY

 

If a student would like to change their password, Google’s password criteria include:

  • The password must be at least 8 characters long

  • Do not use words contained in your username or name

  • Use at least three of the four following character types:

    • Number

    • special character (e.g. !, $, #, %)

    • upper case character

    • lower case character

Updated Site Assignments - Information Systems Technicians

Please join us in welcoming Sydney Baichtal to Technology Services as an Information Systems Technician. 

 

After completing her internship with RCSD Technology as a Technology Computer Assistant, Sydney returned to CSU Chico to receive her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts. In the upcoming months, she will be out at sites shadowing with our Information Systems Technician while learning the role.

Middle School: Chromebooks Left at Home

We understand some Library Media Specialists’ schedules don’t align with student start and end times. If a student does not bring their Chromebook to school, a student may visit the office and check out a loaner for the school day from clerical. This will be tracked through Destiny.


Susan Batter will create and share a check-out/check-in Destiny account with the clerical. Your site LMS will be able to walk clerical through the check-out/check-in process in Destiny.


Like any materials, Chromebooks need to be monitored to save on yearly expenses and assigned to students, so there is accountability for taking care of site materials. Destiny is how we support student device inventory now and in future years.
