Tutor.com- Tutoring Help for Students in Grades 6-8
All RCSD students in grades 6-8 have access to tutor.com. Below is a message that will be sent to all middle school parents on Friday, September 3.

Subject: Additional Academic Support for our RCSD Middle School Students

Hello RCSD Middle School Families,

The Roseville City School District has partnered with tutor.com to help provide students with additional support if needed. Tutor.com is a fully online tutoring service. You can get a tutor 24/7 in Math, Science, Social Studies, English, and Foreign Languages. Tutoring sessions take place in their easy-to-use online classroom, which runs in your web browser. Students can navigate to tutor.com/rcsd and login using their student ID and birth date (in the form of mm/dd/yyyy).

The slide deck below includes details regarding tutor.com, videos showing how to connect to a live tutor, and more. If you have any questions please reach out to your school site.

i-Ready Diagnostic Window 1
The i-Ready diagnostic testing window will close on September 10. As a reminder, the first diagnostic is required for grades 2-8 and optional for grades K-1. Please watch this video for steps on how to check the diagnostic status for your school.

Just a reminder that there will be a future training at Leadership on how to pull i-Ready data for your school and subgroups. Since Homeless/Foster Youth cannot be pulled from i-Ready, you can view dashboard data in DTS if you have a significant population. If you don’t have a significant population and you would like to see individual kids, you can run reports in PowerSchool to identify kids, then pull scores. If you need help running reports from PowerSchool, please let Rachael Peck (rpeck@rcsdk8.org) know.

Elementary AFG
Elementary principals, we wanted to let you know that after a break for a year, we will be continuing our work as an elementary AFG committee. We understand that your representative might have moved sites or that they are no longer interested due to other time commitments or responsibilities. Brandon Blom will email out to the previous members on Friday, September 3 to gauge their interest and let you know. If your site does not have a representative that is not a problem as we understand this year is different from when we first started the committee. Principals are not required to attend meetings (but of course are always welcome) and we will give updates to the elementary admin team at Leadership.

Mathematical Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools (MOEMS)
Feedback received from the 2020-21 PDAC survey emphasized wanting support with advanced learners. To that end, please fill out a quick feedback form about MOEMS. Based on the information received, we will find ways to support sites in your work with advanced mathematical learners. Thank you for your feedback.

K-5 Discovery Education
We are still utilizing the online TechBook for all science curriculum for the 2021-22 school year. All the materials students and teachers will use can be found online and are available to print through the Discovery Education platform. Teachers do have access to the kit materials that support the hands-on investigations.

RVA Student Reminder
A reminder that if you have a student who is going to RVA they should be given all materials. For example, if they currently have Math Book 1, they should also be given all remaining materials that they will need for the rest of the school year. Please read the email Joe Clark sent last Thursday or you can find that information on the document below.

Please fill out this quick form by Friday, September 10 to indicate your SSP day and time. This helps us support your site with potential needs.

Changes to your School YouTube Account
Technology Services is aware of an automated notification shared by Google this week regarding changes to staff YouTube accounts. No further action is needed by staff, all staff profiles have been updated to identify “all users are 18 or older.”

Effective immediately, managed student accounts (rcsdkids) are no longer able to upload videos to YouTube, or post comments to YouTube videos. Please continue to promote and utilize screencastify and Drive to create and share videos for student accounts.

Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF) Parent Survey
Any family requesting a hotspot or Chromebook to support remote learning during quarantine (or close contact) must complete the Emergency Connectivity Fund - Parent Survey prior to a device being issued, selecting one or more of the following responses:
  • As of July 1, 2021, I will NOT have sufficient internet access at my residence.
  • As of July 1, 2021, I will NOT have equipment to connect to the internet at my residence. This equipment could be a laptop, Chromebook, or a tablet.
The parent survey shared above was created by the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC), and unfortunately, responses other than those highlighted above identify the family as not eligible. Please click the following link to view responses received as of September 1, 2021 at 10:42 PM by site: Emergency Connectivity Form Responses by Site
