Face Mask Compliance
Please remind ALL staff that they are required to wear face masks, covering their nose and mouth, and secured under the chin, unless they have gone through an interactive process after supplying a medical exemption from their doctor. Face shields with drapes are not allowed without having specific permission for an individual with a medical exemption. Please refer to CDPH guidelines, RCSD Welcome Back to School letter, and RCSD Health and Safety guidelines for further clarification.

LineWize and SysCloud
Principals and Assistant Principals should be receiving notifications from both LineWize and SysCloud. These two systems are used to monitor the internet activity of our students. LineWise monitors student internet searches and SysCloud monitors the students’ activities within the Google environment (email, Google docs, etc.). If you receive either of these notifications please follow up with the students to ensure they are being safe.

Updated Music Guidance
In the updated CDPH Guidance, students are allowed to sing inside with a mask. Please see the document below for updated guidance for music and band.

Mathematical Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools (MOEMS)
Feedback received from the 2020-21 PDAC survey emphasized wanting support with advanced learners. To that end, please fill out a quick feedback form about MOEMS by Friday, September 10. SPED Case Manager and Service Provider Roles & Responsibilities
The Case Manager and Service Provider Roles & Responsibilities document will be shared with ESS staff today in the ESSentials and reviewed at the upcoming ESS job-alike PLC meetings. Site administrators can use this document to support site SPED teams in clarifying roles and responsibilities related to special education assessments, IEP meetings, and IEP paperwork. If you have any questions, please contact your program specialist.

Progress Report Dates and Info
Please check the Educator Blog for information regarding progress reports for elementary and mid-trimester progress checks for middle school.
  • Elementary please have your teachers send progress reports home by September 24.
  • Middle school, it is your responsibility to send out an email to families on September 24. Here is a sample message you can use.
Immunizations
We currently have 207 students district-wide that are not compliant with their immunizations (not including those on catch-up plans, homeless foster youth, and students enrolled in RVA). Our nurses will be sending home 30-day notices tomorrow, September 10, to each family letting them know that all immunizations need to be completed by October 11; otherwise, their child will be excluded from school. More details will be reviewed at our upcoming clerical and leadership meetings.

BUSINESS SERVICES Assemblies Involving Animals If you are hosting an assembly at your site that involves animals you may need to have parents sign the SIG Activities Waiver. All assemblies that involve animals on campus should be communicated to parents before the event. This can be done through an email, newsletter, blog, etc. If your students WILL be touching the animals, parents must fill out the SIG Activities Waiver. If your students will NOT be touching animals and will only be looking at the animals from a distance, you do not need to have parents fill out the waiver.
